Since WatchThis launched, I made a lot of changes to the movie page.
I like to keep the number of pages to a minimum. When we discuss new features with Kevin we always evaluate the impact on the site in terms of interface: how many pages will have to be changed and how many pages will have to be added. It’s often too many.
Alex started a new blog where he explains the interfaces he builds. You should follow it.
You can now watch trailers on WatchThis, without leaving the site.

The page for a movie on WatchThis is extremely challenging to design. I have to deal with movies which have a lot of data, like Harry Potter (plot, tagline, trailer, people, tags), and movies which have nothing, like weird Korean black and white documentaries about abortion. This means I can’t create an horizontal design like this, I have to think vertical.
This is why this design will never see the light of day. I spent a lot of time on it before realising this so… I guess that’s why I’m posting it.
We have a lot of interesting enhancements coming to the site (“enhancements”, not features) this summer. We put the development on hold during our finals, but in the coming weeks we won’t have anything to work on but this.
Now is the best time to send us an email (contact@0to88.com) to tell us what you don’t like about the site.
This is how we deploy WatchThis using Heroku. One line. I feel like a god when I type these 4 words. I imagine the sound of robots from Transformers when I hit return. It’s awesome.

It is now possible to express your approbation to one’s comment by simply clicking on “well said!”. Last week-end we officially launched WatchThis, the website that helps you watch good movies. Initially an experiment to replace a Google spreadsheet shared with a few movie lovers, this project interested some friends and friends of friends. We at 0to88 eventually decided to open it to the public.
